Approach…

I believe that the best coaches serve as sounding boards; listening deeply with curiosity and respect, and challenging constructively. My approach is rooted in the science of positive psychology and the adult development theory, vertical development. I explore topics such as life satisfaction, values, purpose, and personal strengths. I also explore how the perspective of the client is being sourced, is it from a deep place of inner knowing, or more so an outcome of the social system they belong to. I implore the client to broaden from either/or thinking to both/and thinking, enabling the client to better manage complex situations. I also guide clients to use the innate wisdom in their bodies for direction and guidance. My coaching is a dynamic balance of client and coach-led, leaning on my strong skill of knowing when to show up like a coach, the neutral party that witnesses and is curious, and when to offer a perspective and lean on my experience of coaching hundreds of individuals.

I use a variety of tools, such as personality, energy, and 360 assessments, mindfulness techniques, self-reflection exercises, guided visualizations, and skill/strength mapping. It is my belief that coaching is truly effective when the whole self of the client is taken into account.

Methods

Each coaching engagement begins with a deep dive into the client’s goals and what they are desiring from the coaching relationship. Initial questions:

  • with specific aspects of your career are most challenging?

  • what does success look like at the end of the coaching engagement?

  • what have you tried so far?

  • what is your timeframe?

Using these questions as a springboard, I then work with the client to craft a plan, and design a coaching package to get to the client’s goals.
